Wet self-priming pumps require the pump casing to be initially filled with liquid before starting. These pumps have two chambers: a vacuum chamber and a pressure chamber, connected by a recirculation port. Dry self-priming pumps (also called prime-assisted pumps) don’t require pre-filling. They can start even when the system, including the pump casing, is empty.
