Do you need a dry self-priming pump that gets the job done? The Gorman-Rupp PA Series pumps are made for tough jobs in construction, industrial and wastewater applications. These pumps use a compressor/venturi system or a high-flow diaphragm primer to ensure quick and reliable priming. Need even more performance? Add the optional TPAWS system for extra-fast and dependable priming- even in the harshest conditions.
With full above-ground access, you can carry out maintenance quickly and easily on-site. The PA Series handles large solids, runs dry without damage and is built with long-term reliability in mind- even in abrasive environments.
Quick startup through a compressor/venturi system or high-flow diaphragm primer. The optional TPAWS system ensures even faster and more reliable priming.
Oversized, oil-lubricated seals let the pump run dry for long periods without damage.
Just four bolts to remove the entire rotating assembly- no need to disconnect piping or disturb the casing.
An atmospheric barrier and dual lip seals protect the bearings, extend service life, and make external monitoring simple.
No need to replace expensive castings—just swap the wearplate or wearring and keep downtime to a minimum.
Breaks up wipes, rags, and debris before they hit the impeller.(Available on selected PA models.)
Gorman-Rupp priming-assisted centrifugal pumps are designed for heavy-duty solids-handling applications. They use either a diaphragm pump or a venturi compressor to create a vacuum. Through a priming chamber and priming valve, air is evacuated from the pump casing and suction line. This creates a vacuum, which removes air from the system. Atmospheric pressure then causes liquid to fill the pump. This design eliminates the leaks associated with traditional priming-assisted pumps and enables the pump to operate under flooded suction conditions without leaking.
Yes. Dry-run capability is a standard feature of Gorman-Rupp priming-assisted pumps. An oversized, oil-lubricated mechanical seal allows the pump to run dry continuously without causing damage. This is particularly important for applications with intermittent flow, such as sewage bypass operations and construction site dewatering, where the pump may periodically run without liquid.
TPAWS stands for Twin Port Air Water Separator, a proprietary system invented and designed by Gorman-Rupp. A priming-assisted system relies on a valve system, allowing air to be removed from the suction line and at the same time preventing fluids from entering the priming pump. The TPAWS effectively seals the vacuum port once the pump is fully primed, and opens when a reprime is needed. Thanks to the large secondary port, the priming time is reduced by up to 30%. As an added benefit, contamination on the valve seats is virtually impossible. Should any contamination hinder the effective reprime, a quick rinse with fresh water through the built-in flush port gets you going again. TPAWS is the most reliable air-water separating system on the market.
The PA(H) Series covers a wide operating range. Pump sizes range from 3″ (75 mm) to 16″ (400 mm). Maximum capacity reaches well over 3,500 m³/h (972 l/s) on the PAH16 model. Maximum head reaches up to 61 m on the PA8E model. Solids handling is up to 4″ (102 mm) depending on the model, with most models handling 3″ (76 mm) solids as standard. Specific operating ranges vary per model.
Priming-assisted pumps are designed for applications involving large volumes of liquid, solids, and intermittent flow conditions. Typical applications include sewage bypass operations, construction site dewatering, mine dewatering, municipal wastewater handling, horizontal directional drilling and remediation projects. The positive priming capability makes them suitable for situations where large volumes of air are present in the liquid, where there are long or oversized suction lines, or where flow is intermittent.
Priming-assisted pumps are available as S-Line engine-driven models or as E-Line electric-driven configurations. Engine-driven models can be equipped with diesel engines from manufacturers including Kohler, HATZ, Deutz and others, depending on pump size. S-Line models are available with a sound-attenuated enclosure for noise-sensitive environments. The electric-driven models are equipped with IE3 or IE4 three-phase electric motors.
Multiple impeller types are available depending on the application. For solids-handling applications, rugged vortex or two-vane ductile iron semi-open impellers handle solids up to 4″ (102 mm) in diameter. For clean water applications, higher-efficiency enclosed impellers are available. The impeller type should be selected based on the medium being pumped and the required performance characteristics.
The Eradicator® is a solids management technology available on most priming-assisted pump models. The self-cleaning wearplate uses grooves, notches and a lacerating tooth to break up stringy materials and pass them through the pump without impacting performance or interrupting service. This reduces the risk of clogging when handling sewage, rags, or other fibrous materials.
Standard construction materials include cast iron and ductile iron, depending on the model. CD4MCu duplex stainless steel is available as an option for corrosive or aggressive media. The pump features a heavy-duty alloy steel shaft, lubricated bearings, and an oversized oil-lubricated mechanical seal designed for abrasive and solids-handling service. Consult Gorman-Rupp Europe for material recommendations based on your specific application.
All PA Series and PAH Series pumps come standard with a two-year warranty. Gorman-Rupp Europe provides application engineering support for pump selection, system sizing and configuration advice from its European facilities. Replacement parts are stocked in large quantities, with most orders shipped within 24 hours. Service is available through a worldwide network of factory-trained distributors.
