The Regional Sales Manager – Southern Europe is responsible for developing and expanding the company’s business for industrial pump solutions across Southern European markets. The role focuses on driving sales growth through distributor management, key account development, and project-based sales in sectors such as water & wastewater, construction, municipal and industrial applications.
1) Role Description & (Daily) Activities
The Regional Sales Manager – Southern Europe is responsible for developing and expanding the company’s business for industrial pump solutions across Southern European markets. The role focuses on driving sales growth through distributor management, key account development, and project-based sales in sectors such as water & wastewater, construction, municipal and industrial applications.
On a daily basis, the Regional Sales Manager works closely with distributors, engineers and end users to provide commercial and technical sales support. This includes identifying project opportunities, advising on pump selection and applications, coordinating with internal technical and operations teams, and supporting bids and tenders. The role requires frequent travel within the region and active presence in the market.
2) Main Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the regional sales strategy for the Gorman-Rupp pump solutions in Southern Europe
- Manage, support, and expand the distributor and service partner network
- Drive revenue growth through project sales, framework agreements, and key accounts
- Identify new business opportunities in water & wastewater, construction, industrial, and municipal markets
- Support distributors and customers with application knowledge, pump selection, and system solutions
- Manage relationships with key OEMs, EPC contractors, municipalities, and industrial end users
- Coordinate quotations, tenders, and technical-commercial proposals with internal teams
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and regional standards or specifications
- Negotiate pricing, contracts, and commercial terms within company guidelines
- Represent the company at trade fairs, industry events, and customer presentations
- Ensure consistent brand positioning and professional market representation
3) Job Requirements
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, or Process Engineering preferred) or Business with strong technical exposure
- Minimum 5–8 years of experience in B2B sales of industrial pumps, fluid handling equipment, or related mechanical products
- Proven experience managing distributors and project-based sales across multiple countries
- Experience in Southern European pump markets and applications is a strong advantage
Technical & Commercial Skills
- Solid understanding of pump technologies (e.g. centrifugal, slurry, wastewater, dewatering pumps)
- Ability to read technical specifications, datasheets, and system curves
- Strong negotiation, presentation, and relationship management skills
- Experience with tendering processes and project sales cycles
- Strong planning, forecasting, and CRM discipline
- Willingness to travel extensively within the assigned region
Languages
- Fluent in English (written and spoken)
- Proficiency in Spanish, Italian, French, or Portuguese is preferred
