Project Engineer

Pump sets – customer-specific – R&D

Are you the engineer who designs our customer-specific pump sets and then sees them built right here in our workshop? Do you enjoy working in an international setting and focusing on one project for an extended period? Then read on to see if this role suits you.

Your Role

Our specialty is the self-priming centrifugal pump. Anywhere large volumes of dirty water need to be moved with power, our robust pump sets come into play. These are diesel or electrically powered pumps used in construction, industry, or government sectors that can move up to 2.5 million liters of water per hour or reach a head of up to 150 meters.

As one of our five engineers, you are involved in a project from start to finish. The base pumps are manufactured in the U.S., but you design the complete machine—including drive, control system, mechanical components, and housing. Parts are produced by suppliers, and the full machine is assembled in-house, allowing you to follow the entire project lifecycle.

From Kick-Off to Delivery

Your tasks range from modifying existing pumps and structural R&D to customer-specific engineering where the full pump set must meet noise regulations, performance criteria, or explosion safety standards. The variety of customers adds to the diversity—you’ll find your designs in pumping stations in rural areas, food production plants, or with contractors.

During the kick-off meeting, your sales colleague provides all initial information. The pump selection is made during the sales process, but you are responsible for designing the casing and the entire pump set. You balance materials, customer needs, quality standards, costs, and production capabilities. Starting from a concept design and a list of requirements, you develop a detailed 3D model. You work modularly and often reuse previous designs that you adapt. Occasionally, you’ll visit a project on-site to get a clear picture of the installation environment, or you’ll join a sales colleague in presenting your solution to the customer. Throughout the project, key milestones are scheduled to review progress, design choices, and additional requirements with the client. Often, you’ll be dedicated to one project for several weeks. On average, we develop dozens of custom solutions each year.

3D Design in SolidEdge

You use SolidEdge to create 3D models, quotation drawings, and production drawings to design new components and pump sets. You also improve existing designs and continuously look for ways to enhance the quality of our pump sets. You perform strength calculations, regularly consult with colleagues to exchange knowledge, and support each other. You also prepare assembly drawings for the production team, respond to questions from sales and assembly, and frequently observe progress on the workshop floor.

R&D for Sustainable, Innovative Solutions

In our in-house metalworking shop, we love to experiment with new possibilities. As sustainability becomes more important, we’re working on new products such as mobile pump sets with electric motors or hydrogen-powered systems. You are encouraged to contribute and think outside the box to develop innovative customer solutions.

What Do You Bring?

  • A relevant technical degree, such as in mechanical engineering or mechatronics
  • Experience with 3D design, preferably in SolidWorks or SolidEdge
  • Proficiency in English (spoken and written), due to frequent contact with our U.S. headquarters and international clients

Who Are You?

With your technical expertise, spatial awareness, precision, and structured work style, you deliver outstanding designs for our clients. You work enthusiastically and maintain a clear overview of your projects. You’re able to set priorities without losing sight of important details. You spot opportunities for improvement and integrate them into future designs.

As a team player, you enjoy working with colleagues from different departments and staying in touch with various stakeholders. Most importantly, you’re a great colleague who strengthens the team. You’re ready to tackle the challenge of developing the best solutions together with your coworkers.
