Growth ambition – ‘heavy duty pumps’ – infrastructure / industry / water sector
As a technical expert, you are a key link within our sales team. You provide technical support to your field colleagues, assess complex pump requests, prepare well-founded quotations, and give presentations to clients. In short, you are our new technical anchor!
Your Role
At Gorman-Rupp Europe, we build self-priming centrifugal pumps for infrastructure, industry, water boards, and government bodies. A specialized—and fantastic—field, if we may say so ourselves. Since many of our customers don’t always have extensive knowledge of pumps, your application advice and technical insight into feasibility are indispensable.
Within our commercial inside sales team of five colleagues, you handle the more complex customer inquiries. Based on your technical advice, you work them out into quotations. You advise clients and sales colleagues on requests, spare parts delivery, and performing repairs. You are a vital bridge between sales, purchasing, and engineering.
From Spec Sheet to Quotation
You receive a request from one of your sales colleagues or directly from a customer via email. You review the spec sheet and assess whether the customer’s request is technically feasible. You request additional information from the customer, consult with manufacturers and suppliers about possibilities, and make accurate calculations. You determine which pump is suitable for the intended application. How much power is needed? What is the temperature of the liquid being pumped? Does the desired pump fit into a standard housing, or does it require customization? And is there already a similar design in our system? Using our BI tools, you can access various dashboards to find data and insights—for example, on delivery times and reliability.
All your work results in a clear, structured quotation, including both pump performance and cost breakdown per component. Technical feasibility, quality, efficiency, and customer satisfaction all play key roles. You then send your quotation to your sales colleague, who will discuss it with the customer.
Training and Presenting
We have extensive product and technical expertise in-house and offer plenty of time to help you acquire this knowledge. You’ll have all the space you need to grow in your role. We also have our own training center in Waardenburg, where (potential) clients regularly visit. We give presentations using demo models so clients can see how a pump station works. We also train maintenance staff from companies, municipalities, or water boards to help them understand pump curves and troubleshoot common problems themselves.
You will welcome our—often international—guests, support our sales team by preparing training materials, and deliver presentations. And of course, you’ll jump in to assist your colleagues with other tasks when needed, such as processing orders and arranging rentals.
