Do you enjoy using your commercial skills for a wide range of clients? Are you good at connecting with industrial technicians, equipment managers at infrastructure companies, and procurement officers at municipalities? And do you have a strong interest in everything related to technology? Then read on!
Your Role
At Gorman-Rupp Europe, we build self-priming centrifugal pumps. Never heard of them? No worries – we have so much in-house expertise, we’ll teach you everything. More excitingly, we supply our high-quality products and innovative solutions to the construction, industrial, and government sectors, including municipalities and water boards. That’s a broad range of clients, each requiring a different approach. Your focus will be on our existing and potential customers in the southern part of the Netherlands.
You identify markets and opportunities, continuously expand your network, and of course, secure new assignments. Every day, you visit customers in your region. You maintain contact with existing clients (about 70% of your activities) and actively pursue new ones. This allows you to build long-term relationships with contractors, production managers, equipment managers, buyers, or technical service managers.
Acquisition
For many of our clients, pumps are not a primary concern and are sometimes even an afterthought in a project. Getting a seat at the table with new customers is your challenge – and one you embrace. You know how to use your commercial skills to clearly convey the added value of our pumps. You tailor your approach to each customer type. You connect easily with contractors, conduct cold calling campaigns per segment in the industrial market, and approach municipalities. You introduce clients to our rental p…
First Point of Contact for Existing Clients
With existing customers, you’ll discuss ongoing inquiries, review quotations, or just stop by to maintain the relationship if you’re in the area. You are the first point of contact, supported by our inside sales and engineering specialists. When a new pump inquiry arises, you thoroughly assess the customer’s needs and requirements. You have enough technical knowledge to understand what the customer means and, if necessary, you involve an engineer—either by reviewing drawings or visiting the client toget…
You compile all requirements into an order specification sheet, which the inside sales team uses to prepare a quotation. When negotiating delivery times, you always check internally whether they are feasible. Once the order is approved, you schedule a kick-off meeting with your engineering and assembly colleagues to hand over all technical details, agreements, and conditions.
Development Opportunities and Sustainability
You’ll gain the technical knowledge you need through our internal training program – both in the Netherlands and in the U.S. We have extensive product and technical expertise in-house and offer plenty of time to help you absorb this knowledge. Your commercial skills and drive to stay informed about market developments and projects are even more important. Think of sustainability initiatives that many of our clients are working on—something we’re eager to contribute to as well.
You’ll create annual sales targets per segment and product as part of your year plan, and you’ll be responsible for maintaining and expanding relationships and commercial success in your region. In addition to frequent customer visits, you’ll work one day a week at the Waardenburg office, where you’ll write up visit reports and discuss customer questions with the engineering team.
