Technical account manager (West-Nederland) (ingevuld)

‘Heavy duty pumps’ – infrastructure / industry / water sector

Do you like to use your commercial skills for a variety of clients? Do you easily connect with industrial technicians, equipment managers at infrastructure companies, and procurement officers at municipalities? And are you passionate about everything related to technology? Then read on!

Your role

At Gorman-Rupp Europe, we build self-priming centrifugal pumps. No problem if you’ve never heard of those – we have so much knowledge in-house, we’ll teach you everything. What makes it even more fun: we supply our high-quality products and innovative solutions to the construction, industrial, and government sectors, including municipalities and water authorities. A broad range of customers, all of whom you approach in a different way. Your focus is on our existing and potential customers in the western Netherlands, roughly the provinces of North and South Holland and Utrecht.

You map out the markets and opportunities, continually expand your network, and of course, secure new assignments. Every day you visit customers in your region. You maintain contact with existing customers (70% of your contacts) and actively seek out new clients. This way, you build long-term relationships with contractors, production managers, equipment managers, procurement officers, or technical service managers.

Acquisition

For many of our clients, pumps are not their core business and sometimes even an afterthought in the project. Getting a seat at the table with new customers is your challenge – one you gladly take on. Your commercial skills enable you to convey the added value of our pumps effectively. You adjust your approach based on the customer type. For instance, you easily connect with contractors, conduct call rounds per segment in the industrial market, and approach municipalities. You introduce clients to our rental program or invite them to our training center in Waardenburg. There, together with a colleague, you regularly give presentations using our demo models so that customers can see for themselves how our pumps work.

First point of contact for existing clients

You discuss ongoing inquiries with current customers, go over quotations, or drop by to maintain relationships if you’re in the area. You are the first point of contact for our customers, supported by our inside sales and engineering specialists. For new pump inquiries, you thoroughly assess the client’s needs and requirements. You have enough technical knowledge to understand what a customer means and involve an engineer if necessary—by reviewing drawings or visiting the customer together. With the engineer’s support, you discuss how the pump or process could be different or more efficient and together respond smartly to the customer’s needs with thoughtful solutions.

You consolidate all requirements into an order specification sheet, which is then turned into a quotation by the inside sales team. When negotiating delivery times with the customer, you first check internally whether those times are feasible. Once the order is confirmed, you schedule a kick-off meeting with your engineering and assembly colleagues to transfer all technical requirements, agreements, conditions, etc.

Development opportunities and sustainability

The technical knowledge you need will be provided through our internal training program – both in the Netherlands and in the United States. We have extensive product and technical expertise in-house and ample time to help you acquire it. Your commercial skills and drive to stay informed about developments and projects in the market are even more important. Consider sustainability initiatives that many of our clients are pursuing, where we’re also eager to contribute.

Each year, you create revenue targets per segment and product in your annual plan, and you’re responsible for maintaining and expanding relationships and commercial success in your area. Besides many customer visits, you work one day a week at our office in Waardenburg, where you process visit reports and discuss customer queries with engineering.

What do you bring?

  • You have a basic level of technical knowledge. Specific knowledge of pumps is not required; training will be provided in-house and possibly in the US.
  • You speak and write English well.
  • You live centrally in the western Netherlands.
  • You have a completed MBO or HBO education and a strong commercial drive.

Who are you?

You are commercially minded and interested in technology. When visiting a client, you enjoy checking out their equipment. You connect easily with different types of people, are strong in building relationships, and quickly grasp customer needs. You enjoy personal contact, are curious, and have a collaborative mindset.

You work independently and in an organized manner. You are result-oriented, think from the customer’s perspective, and always keep the commercial aspect in mind. You quickly convey the added value of our pumps to the client.
